The Arrival of Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell on Star Base 12

Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell didn’t travel five years from Post World War Three Planet Earth to Star Base 12 to create a new dynasty with either Lord Andrew Charles Howard or Lord Richard William Carey.

At the age of 15 years old she was transported by her care-takers to San Francisco, California with her caretakers where they simply dropped her off and without saying even a good-bye to her.

Karissa opened up the door of their automobile and with her suitcases in her hand, she climbed out of their automobile, closed the door, and started to walk toward the waiting room of The United Federation of Planets relocation program where 499 other war orphans were waiting to board the USS Republic.

All of these young people were free of radiation poisoning and fertile and capable of having children.

One by one all the young war orphans boarded the USS Republic and were shown their quarters on board the USS Republic by separate yeomen that were assigned to them.

Yeoman Janice Rand was assigned to Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell for her five year long journey to Star Base 12 on April 29, 2270.

Yeoman Rand looks at Karissa “You are very young to be traveling by yourself.”  Yeoman Rand tells her.

“I am a war orphan and my family all died due to the results of long term radiation poisoning that was left by World War III.” Karissa tells her.

“I am sorry that you were left an orphan so young, Karissa,, but hopefully once you arrive on Star Base 12. You can rebuild your life.” Yeoman Rand tells her.

“The USS Republic is your temporary home and our Captain will make sure all your needs are met.” Yeoman Rand tells her.

Karissa was very introverted and she took refuge in the garden aboard the USS Republic, but one day a young officer, Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley who boarded from Talos IV where he lost his entire family to a genocidal maniac named Kudos walks into the garden, but he doesn’t see Karissa until later and when he does he walks up to her “I am sorry to intrude on your privacy,”

Karissa looks up at Lt Kevin Thomas Riley who is returning to Star Base 12 to continue his studies at Star Fleet Academy after laying his family to rest on Talos IV.

“May I join you if it is alright Miss?” Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley asks her.

“Why of course Sir.” Karissa answers.

“My name is Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley, and your’s is?” Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley asks.

“I am  Karissa.” Karissa answers “I headed for Star Base 12.” 

“I headed back to Star Base 12 to attend Star Fleet Academy.” Lt Kevin Thomas Riley explains.

“I will be living out at Madame’s Boarding House.” Karissa answers.

“I know the Duke that governs the territory and he is a good friend of mine, Lord Richard William Carey.” Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley tells her.

Karissa looks at Kevin Thomas Riley and asks. “Dukes govern Star Base 12?”

“Why yes. Didn’t anyone tell you?” Kevin asks.

“Why no.” Karissa answers.

“Star Base 12 was first settled by aristocrats that escaped Pre-World War III in 2153.” Kevin explains.

“The first Duke of Norfolk Territory was Lord Patrick William Howard, followed by his son, Lord Frederick William Howard, followed by his second son, Lord Charles Andrew Howard Senior, followed by the current Duke, Lord Charles Andrew Howard Junior who has five children.” Kevin explains.

“In fact, Lord Richard William Carey, Duke of Bedford is Lord Patrick William Howard great-great-great-grandson, through his granddaughter, Lady Sophia Charlotte Howard who was the only daughter of Lord Frederick William Howard.” Kevin explains.

“There are also some gentry families like the Cravens, and The Collins.” Kevin explains.

“Lord Charles Andrew Howard JR is the senior Duke along with Lord Richard William Carey.” Kevin explains.

Karissa just listens to Kevin talk on and she tells him, “I am not a stuffy, runny nose aristocrat with a golden spoon stuck up my ass.” 

“Most of them are just that, rich, spoiled, runny-nose brats.” Kevin admits.

Finally on May 1, 2274, The USS Republic orbits around Star Base 12 and the shuttle-crafts beam all the remaining passengers down to Star Base 12.

It is Lt Kevin Thomas Riley who escorts Karissa to meet Lord Charles Andrew Howard JR and Lord Richard William Carey and standing by his father’s side is Lord Andrew Charles Howard.

Lord Andrew Charles Howard and Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley are also good friends and Lord Andrew Charles offers Kevin his condolences on losing his family on Talos IV.

“I am sorry for your loss, Kevin.” Lord Andrew Charles tells him.

“Thanks Andrew Charles. They still haven’t caught that sorry bastard.” Kevin tells him.

“Lord Andrew Charles. This is Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell from Planet Earth and she has come to live on Star Base 12.” Kevin tells him.

“Welcome to Norfolk Territory and Star Base 12.” Lord Andrew Charles tells Karissa.

“Thank you Lord Howard.” Karissa answers.

“Please call me Lord Andrew Charles.” Lord Andrew Charles asks Karissa.

“So be it, Lord Andrew Charles Howard.” Karissa answers and Lord Richard William Carey walks over and he says “ It broke my heart to hear that you lost your father, mother, and sister on Talos IV.” 

“Thanks, Lord Richard William. “ Kevin tells his good friend.

“Lord Richard William. This is Karissa and she is from Planet Earth and she will be residing out in your territory of Bedford.” Kevin tells him.

“Welcome to Star Base 12 and from the Duke of Bedford Territory. Let me be the first one to welcome you to Bedford Territory.” Lord Richard William tells her.

“Thank you for your kind welcome, Lord Carey.” Karissa tells him.

“Please call me Lord Richard.” Lord Richard William asks.

“Very well, Lord Richard William.” Karissa answers and Kevin asks Lord Richard William to see Karissa safely to Madame’s Boarding House.

“Listen, Karissa . I have to walk back to Star-Fleet Academy and I have to catch up with my studies. I will see you later.” Kevin promises her and he walks her to Lord Richard William carriage and he helps to climb in and he watches it pull away and he heads back to Star-Fleet Academy.

On the way to Madame’s Boarding house, Lord Richard William tells Karissa about Bedford Territory and the population consists of ordinary everyday people.

“I am the great-great-great-grandson of Lord Patrick William Howard through his granddaughter, Lady Sophia Charlotte Howard.” Lord Richard William states.

“My great-grandmother was the only sister of Lord Charles Andrew Howard JR, father, Lord Charles Andrew Howard Senior.” Lord Richard William explains.

“I am Lord Andrew Charles Howard first cousin thrice removed.” Lord Richard William explains.

“My grandfather and Lord Charles Andrew Howard Junior were first cousins, and my father, Lord Robert Carey and Lord Andrew Charles Howard are second cousins, and I am his first cousin thrice removed.” Lord Richard William explains.

Karissa just listens while Lord Richard William talks to her but she is tired from the long journey.

“Bedford Territory is a good territory. It is peaceful, low crime, prosperous, and its main business is agriculture.” Lord Richard William tells her.

“There is nothing wrong with farming or agriculture because without them we would starve.” Karissa  tells him.

“My maternal grandfather and grandmother had a farm in Southern Alabama. They grew cotton, pecans, raised chickens, geese, cows, pigs, and hens and a few turkeys.” Karissa tells him.

“I see.” Lord Richard William states. “ I inherited the title from my grandfather in 2270.” 

“My father died before my grandfather and when he died I became Duke of Bedford.” Lord Richard William explains.

“You are very young to be a Duke?” Karissa explains.

“I was 20 years old when he died. I am 23 and soon to be 24.” Lord Richard William tells her “and you?” 

“I will be 19 years old soon.” Karissa explains.

The carriage pulls into the driveway of Madame’s Boarding House and Madame Valois is a direct descendant of Charles of Valois who was the son of King Phillip The III of France and Isabella of Aragon.

Madame Valois walks out of her manor and she greets Lord Richard William Carey and says “ Bonjour Monsieur Carey.”

“Good Day, Madame Valois. I have brought Mademoiselle Karissa Lowell.” Lord Richard William tells her.

“Oui, I have been expecting Mademoiselle.” Madame Valois tells him.

“Welcome to Star Base 12 and Bedford Territory.” Madame Valois tells Karissa.

Good Morning, Madame Valois.” Karissa answers.

“I have seen that you receive my best suite in my boarding house. It oversees the courtyard and the garden.” Madame explains.

Madame with the help of Lord Richard William Carey helps to carry Karissa ‘s suitcases into Madame and Madame thanks Lord Richard William for his help.

“Please, Madame if Mademoiselle Karissa ,ever needs anything please let me know.” Lord Richard William asks her.

Lord Richard William bids them a good day and heads back toward Bedford Manor where he lives by himself.

Madame explains the rules to karissa and she says, “ I don’t have any friends here but one Lt. Kevin Thoams Riley.” 

“In time my dear. You will meet other young people. Beware of Lord Charles Andrew Howard’s youngest son, Lord Andrew Charles.” Madame explains.

“I think of all of Lord Patrick William's kin that we have the nicest of them and it is Lord Richard William Carey who his great-great-great-grandson.” Madame explains.

“Lord Andrew Charles Howard is his great-great-grandson through his son’s second son, Lord Charles Andrew Howard SR.” Madame explains.

“Lord Charles Andrew Howard JR is a gentleman.” Madame admits.

Madame shows Karissa her suite and she leaves Karissa to unpack and get settled in.

From Norfolk Estate is a love struck young man, who is 24 years old, and he is being pressured to marry but he takes a stand against it.

Lord Andrew Charles Howard tells his father and mother once again ever since 2270, “I will not marry a woman that I don’t love and I won’t consummate my marriage.” 

“Let me marry the woman I love and I promise my grandfather his first grandchild.” Lord Andrew Charles states.

Reluctantly, Lord Charles Andrew Howard SR agrees to allow his youngest son to marry whoever he wants.

Neither of his two older sons have given him a grandchild and his late father a great-grandson and his last hope is Lord Andrew Charles Howard but he has set his eyes upon Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell.
